Pride Month 2022 Recap (2024)

June has come a long way since President Bill Clinton first declared the month “Gay & Lesbian Pride Month” in 1999. Over two decades later, these 30 days—now more inclusively known as LGBTQ+ Pride Month—are celebrations of self expression and LGBTQ+ rights. But this year, to commemorate the month, planners across North America went beyond the rainbow.

From themed co*cktail classes in Miami alongside queens featured on RuPaul’s Drag Race, to 818 Tequila's three-part campaign, UGG's "Feel Heard" initiative with The Trevor Project, and a “Spectrum Of Experiences”-themed event at The Stonewall Inn in New York City—a National Historic Landmark and site of the 1960 riots that launched the gay rights movement—Pride events were bursting with steal-worthy event inspiration.

Keep scrolling for an inside look at the rainbow-clad affairs, and get inspired to celebrate the freedom to be uniquely yourself year-round.

Chambord’s Dream in Color Event

Pride Month 2022 Recap (1)

Chambord Liqueur tapped Miami-based creative marketing agency Secret Sauce to take over the Brickell City Centre (BCC) for a “Dream in Color” event. Every Saturday and Sunday throughout the month of June, all members and allies of the LGBTQ+ community were welcomed onto the BCC’s Garden Deck for a free co*cktail-making class—dubbed “Queen in the Garden"—in a show-like atmosphere.

BCC’s Dream in Color programming also included complimentary fitness workshops, stretching, and yoga for kids—because the LGBTQ+ community and its allies come in all shapes, sizes, and ages.

UGG’s Feel Heard Pride Campaign

Pride Month 2022 Recap (14)

UGG kicked off Pride early and debuted its “Feel Heard” spring/summer 2022 Pride campaign in May to coincide with Mental Health Awareness Month. Created in partnership with The Trevor Project—the world’s largest suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization for queer youth—the campaign was brought to life in UGG’s new flagship site on Fifth Avenue in New York City.

Brooklyn-based creative firm Pink Sparrow oversaw fabrication and design, which was anchored by an on-site telephone booth with “Feel Heard” in the fluffy material UGG’s signature sandals are known for. The interactive space also underscored the importance of The Trevor Project as a 24/7 crisis counseling lifeline. Guests were also encouraged to write notes on a Post-It and stick it inside the telephone booth’s walls.

When it came to the “Feel Heard” campaign and coinciding partnership and collection, Lindsey Dicola Dashoff, the senior director of global brand communications and PR at UGG said in a press release that the brand “wanted to think beyond traditional retail while destigmatizing mental health and raising queer voices.”
