It is with great heartache that we announce the sudden passing of Michael Henry Mohr, cherished son, husband, father, uncle, brother, and brother-in-law on February 8, 2022, in Fox Creek, AB.

Mike was born to Edward and Marie Mohr, the youngest of five children, on June 13, 1969, in Roblin, MB, where he was raised on the family farm in Cromarty, MB. Mike graduated from Goose Lake High School in 1987 while continuing to work on the family farm. After high school, Mike worked at Roblin Forest Products, Wendall’s Leaf Cutters, and farmed land with a few cattle; later deciding to head out west to join the hard-working men on the rigs. He worked at Brelco Drilling before settling in at Precision Drilling where he remained for 27 years. He also was a partner in Assiniboine Outfitters with his brother Marvin Mohr and family friend Leo Mann from 1998 – 2005.

Although he was away often for work, Mike never truly left the home that he cherished. He was a faithful member of the St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church where he eventually married the love of his life, Amber Mohr (nee Dillin) on June 9, 2001, and had three amazing children. The couple had their first child, a son Seth in 2002, followed by their first daughter Halle in 2005 and second daughter Carys in 2009. They were the pride and joy of his life and he cherished them with all his heart. He loved taking them all out to the family farm for quad rides, target practice, sausage making, smoking fish, helping Grandma Marie with the garden, and often finding some mischief along the way. Mike knew without a doubt that his children were his greatest accomplishment in life.

When Mike wasn’t away working, you would often find him at the family farm lending a hand, at Lake of the Prairies dropping a line or wandering the fields hunting and trapping, he loved the outdoors. But family time was the most important to him, often taking countless hours to guide his own children, as well as his many nephews and nieces. Entertaining and making everyone feel welcome was a source of great pride for Mike, no matter who was there to visit, they were always made to feel like they were special. With a big grin, he was an amazing storyteller, always had a joke or two and a teasing, sharp wit, everyone loved his company. He would often tease those he loved solely for his own entertainment and a good laugh. He made lifelong friends with those he grew up with and those he met during his years at the rigs. Even at a time like this, we can’t help but smile with memories of the time we spent with him.

Mike was predeceased by his father, Edward Mohr in 2014, brother-in-law Terry Davey in 2010 and his grandparents Henry and Anna Mohr and Herman and Maria Gottlieb.

Left to mourn his passing is his loving wife, Amber and their three loving children, son Seth and daughters Halle and Carys of Roblin, MB. He is also survived by his mother Marie Mohr of Cromarty, MB, brother Marvin Mohr (Genevieve) of Vernon, BC, sister Karen Davey (Dana Seppola) of Sherwood Park, AB, sister Leann Nattrass (Scott) of Flin Flon, MB and Angela Pollock (Stu) of Calgary, AB, father and mother-in-law Gary and Crystal Dillin of Roblin, MB, brother-in-law Harley Dillin (Vanessa) of Outlook, SK, sister-in-law Marla Jahraus (Devron Edel) of Medicine Hat, AB, Justin Dillin (Lisa) of Yorkton, SK, sister-in-law Raina Chase (Ryan) of Stoney Plain, AB as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Prayers and viewing were held February 18, 2022, at the Sneath-Strilchuck Roblin Chapel. A private funeral service was celebrated for Mike on February 19, 2022, at the St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Roblin, MB with Pastor Barry Wood officiating. Carrying Mike to his final resting place at the Roblin District Cemetery were pallbearers Neil Bailey, Jason Nash, Dwayne Brook, Tim Galay, Deon co*ckerill, and Robert Ricker. The service was livestreamed from Sneath-Strilchuk’s funeral home facebook page for those unable to attend.
