What year is the Roomba 600 series? ›

In August 2012, the 500 series was superseded by the 600 series, which added the AeroVac Bin and advanced cleaning head as standard features. In 2017, iRobot released the 690, which has Wi-Fi connectivity, so it can be started with an app and some personal-assistant software.

Yes. Your Roomba® robot vacuum, Roomba Combo® robot vacuum and mop, or Braava jet® robot mop can work without using the iRobot Home App. But, we recommend using the iRobot Home App to upgrade your cleaning experience and gain access to the latest features available for your robot.

Look for the “Home” button along the top of your device—this is a small, circular button to the left of the larger “Clean” button. Press this button once to send your Roomba back to its Home Base. Tell your Roomba to go home through the iRobot HOME app. Open up the iRobot HOME app on your smartphone.

However, you can greatly extend the life of a robot vacuum if you wipe down the sensors once a month, and replace the filters and brushes as needed. If you get a more affordable model, like Roomba 675 you can expect a lifespan of up to two years.

Note: The 400, 500, 600, 700, 800, and e series do not have clean maps. Upon installing the iRobot HOME App for select Wi-Fi connected Roomba models, you will be prompted to select whether you would like to enable the "Clean Map™ Report" feature.

Can you use Roomba without Wi-Fi? ›

Customers need not connect a Wi-Fi-connected Roomba® to the internet for it to work - it can work in offline mode with no internet or Cloud connectivity. Roomba® users can opt out of sending map data to the Cloud through a switch in the mobile app.

On the Roomba itself, tap and hold the buttons with the target icon and the home icon until the Roomba makes a tone. Your vacuum will take a moment to connect to your Wi-Fi network. Once it's done, you should see a screen like the one on the right.

In some instances, with these models, you may need to pick up your robot and move it to a new room so it can start cleaning. If you want your robot to return to the Home Base®, you would need to move the Home Base® to that room, and start the robot off of it.

Battery and Charging

Indicator lights will turn off after 60 seconds to conserve energy while Roomba is charging. Check status of the battery by pressing the CLEAN button to illuminate the Battery Indicator. Indicator will appear amber while the battery is charging and solid green when fully charged.

Later models feature a new visual simultaneous localization and mapping (vSLAM) navigation system, allowing it to clean more efficiently. As of 2022, there have been ten generations of Roomba models.
